Let's Make God First In Our Lives
September 23, 2023
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Clubbers,
So we have talked about shares and points as well as the 5 count. This week we are going to talk about Samaritan’s Purse and Operation Christmas Child. Yup, it is only September and in two short months we will be packing shoeboxes to send all over the world. As many of you know, we do that right here in Awana on a Friday afternoon.
Those in the Middle School are welcome to come and help setup and assist in putting things together for that afternoon.
Everyone is able to help in other ways as well. We need things like school supplies, small toys, wash clothes, soap, tooth brushes, and so much more. If it fits in a shoebox and is on the approved list, we can send it.
Some may be wondering, how do we pay to send all these shoeboxes to these other countries. Well it cost us $10 per shoebox and we collect bottles and cans that we turn in to the local redeption center in Bridgton. As of right now we have enough to send more than 50 shoeboxes. You can leave your bags of bottles and cans just inside the front doors of the church.
Anyone who wants donate supplies for the shoeboxes can those items in the copy room. We collect these donations all year round as we are a regional drop off location for Operation Christmas Child.
At the beginning of November we have our Annual Harvest Supper. Everyone is asked to bring a little something from a pre-selected list of what fits the theme of a Harvest Supper. This is a huge event and is a Saturday Night Event. There is no fee for this dinner, but we do take a love offering for those that would like to give to it.
There will be more on these events as we get closer.
God Bless,
Awana Commander
